Tagged

So apparently, there is this new way to do the whole "send this to 50 people in 10 minutes and your crush will kiss you tomorrow"

Except this is the way grown-up bloggers do it.

I got tagged by my sister-in-law Heather on her blog (happyharperhome.blogspot.com) so now, I'm supposed to say 6 things that some people might not know about me, and then tag 6 more people to do the same... but since I don't know anyone else who even has a blog... If you're reading this, then consider yourself tagged... and I guess you'll have to start a blog just to respond to this. (yes, Kyli you are the only person I know that actually ever reads these posts)

#1. I have little air sacs in my throat from playing the trumpet the wrong way for years and years. Big whoop... just look at maynard ferguson or dizzy gillespe, and you'll realize that they really aren't a big deal.

They're kinda like this, but less than a quarter of the size. (look at his neck 47 seconds into the video)

(By the way- I'm always completely sober when I play, most trumpet players can't say that)

Dizzy's whole face inflates

#2 I am convinced that my English teacher really doesn't like me. Which is hard for me, because usually my teachers love me. I'm a very practiced suck-up, and all of my peers make fun of me for it. It seems like everyone notices--except the teachers themselves.

#3 Friday is my seventeen-and-a-half birthday, and i just barely got a cell phone for Christmas last week, but before you make fun of me for that I know of at least 2 other people my age who don't have them either.

#4 I have my band directors cell phone number saved in that cell phone. Go ahead and make fun of me for that.

Here's where I could say about 50 more nerdy band things about me, like how I play duets with myself, but all of my band friends already know this stuff, and I'm quite sure that nobody else cares.

So I only did 4 of 6 things, you could get mad about this, but then really I'd just say that I really did you a favor by saving you the hassle and time of reading more stuff about me.

Then I'd make fun of you for even reading the first four.

Then if you watched both videos entirely, I'd make fun of you a little more.

And if I found out that you followed links to find more videos of trumpet players playing high... I probably wouldn't make fun of you, I'd probably ask if you found the one of the high schooler playing the 'Double D' in O holy night.

And then you'd make fun of me.

facebook

Hello everyone who is bored enough to be reading this pointless blog.

Yesterday in first period government, I heard a few people talking about their various interactions on facebook.com
Although I can't remember the exact conversation, it went something like this:
"Hey, did you check your facebook last night?"
"Ya, I was on there for like three hours"
"Did you see that i wrote on your wall?"
"Oh, no but i did get poked like 20 times"
"Ha, did you see what hatched out of that egg that i got?"
...and so on.

From this conversation, I get 2 main impressions about facebook. #1 that people spend multiple hours on it each day, and #2 that it involves walls and poking. The egg i have no idea about.

Lets take the first point. This particular person spent 3 hours on facebook on this particular day. Now lets assume that this time was a little high, and they actually only spend about 1 hour playing with facebook on an average day. With a little simple math we realize that in one month they would have spent a total of 1.25 days "checking" their facebook. The amount of time spent on the site became apparent when i made a profile to find some stuff for this blog. After a total of 5 minutes from the time i sent out friend invites, 2 people had already responded.

"Checking" is a loaded word. Someone might think from what they know of the word, that it means someone logging on to see if they have any new messages. Really checking would involve looking at other user's walls, pictures, or perhaps reading about how mad they are that their boyfriend dumped them.

Maybe this is essential to some people, but from how i see it now, 1.25 days per month is a pretty significant amount of time spent on something that isn't that important. Especally when you look at the bigger picture. 1.25 days per month equals 15 days per year. Even with a job at say-$10 per hour, if that time was spent working, that would be $3600 extra that year. Now, if we're talking about a lifetime, someone would spend the close to 5 years on facebook. What can you do in 5 years? Get a 4-year university degree, graduate and get married.

What's your choice... Facebook or marriage?

The new Blog...

So, Here I am, Making a blog for you all to read, since you all care about me so much.
I'm not really sure what I'm going to put on here yet, but hopefully it won't be so boring... and even if it is... then don't read it!

I'm thinking that maybe if I make this really boring for the first couple posts, then maybe nobody will read it. Then I can post whatever I want without being worried that other people are going to see it.
